Local startups raise over $400M in January

Hi... News in the Boston Business Journal today... this is very good news for the local economy... with investments come jobs, and it affects everything in a trickle down way... commercial real estate, home sales, etc...

Local startups raise over $400M in January

Massachusetts startups reported pulling in more than $100 million in equity and debt financing this week, according to regulatory filings and company announcements covered by the Boston Business Journal.
The week’s intake brings the local startup community’s venture fundraising to roughly $428 million in January.
As of Friday morning, nine investments were disclosed this week. Three of those deals involved debt financing.
Flexion Therapeutics this week topped off a round it began last fall, bringing the total to $42 million. Investors included Pfizer, Versant Ventures, 5AM Ventures, which has offices in Waltham, Mass., and in Menlo Park, Calif., as well as Paris-based Sofinnova Partners.
